Time to do a new super saturday faceoff this time using villains. I chose two of my favourites to go up against each other Joker & Lex Luthor both from DC.
Joker: There has been multiple origin stories for the Joker but I will be using the first which appeared in Detective Comics #168 (1955). He was a laboratory worker who becomes the Red Hood (a masked criminal) to steal a million dollars from his employer and retire. He falls into a vat of chemical waste when his heist is thwarted by Batman, emerging with bleached white skin, red lips, green hair and a permanent grin.
Lex: Lex Luthor is the son of Lionel and Letitia Luthor, wealthy residents of Metropolis. As a teenager, he spent years in Smallville, with his Aunt Lena. There he encountered Clark Kent and first became jealous of Superman.
Winner: For origin stories I prefer the Jokers since it intertwines him with batman more. The whole batman created the Joker thing is what I think makes their rivalry so great.
Joker: The man is insane and sometimes his goals are unclear however, it is obvious he wants to take down batman as revenge for the whole “falling into chemical waste thing”
Lex Luthor: In some versions he wants to take over the world, in other’s it’s the universe. The man is definitely ambitious.
Winner: It’s basically revenge vs. power, the joker wants to get back at batman whereas Lex wants to take over the world and superman is in his way. I’m gonna give the point to Lex for having his goals not revolve around the hero.
Joker– The joker has above average intelligence that is often forgotten because people focus on craziness.
Lex Luthor– Genius-Level intellect
Winner: Although the Joker’s intelligence is above average it’s not quite genius level this one goes to Lex.
Joker– Depending on his gadgets the Joker’s physical abilities have shifted over depictions, some making him a good advisary in a fight others not so much.
Lex–Thanks to lex’s suits he can create he has multiple abilities including super human strength
Winner–Got to give it to Lex and his suits.
Planning, Plotting & other villainy things
Joker: The guy is nuts, there is no way around it. He is unpredictable (which gives him an edge) he has no morals and has no issue maiming or murdering. His downfall would be that he believes when he kills batman it has to be perfect as well as comical therefore causing a delay in attack.
Lex Luthor: He is beyond rich, which is always helpful (just ask Bruce Wayne) He has the financial ability & intelligence to create many weapons, he also is quite powerful (even becoming president of the united states at one point). His self obsessed nature makes it difficult for him to feel empathy. His downfall would be his jealousy which ironically is also his motivation.
Winner: The Jokers unpredictability and insanity definitely give him an edge.
Based on the categories chosen for these rounds the results are:
Round 1: Origin (Joker)
Round 2: Goals (Lex)
Round 3: Intellect (Lex)
Round 4: Physical Strength (Lex)
Round 5: Villainy Things (Joker)
Lex Luthor wins with a score of 3 rounds to 2.
